The representative of the
flora and fauna of Nepal's mid-western
hill covers around 225 sq km. The common
tree species here are chir pine, spruce,
fir, maple, birch, alder and
rhododendron. Dense nigalo bamboo groves
and wide varieties of medicinal herbs
are found here. The fauna include the
leopard, himalayan yellow throated
marten, himalayan black bear, musk deer,
ghoral and himalayan tahr. Danphe, kalij
and monal pheasants, chukor partridge,
red and yellow-billed blue magpie, and
himalayan griffin are some of the birds
of the area. Colorful butterflies, moth
and insects are also part of Khaptad's
ecosystem. The national park is well
known for its religious vale as well as
its natural beauty. Late Khaptad Baba
lived here for 50 years, meditating and
worshiping and became a renowned
spiritual saint. Besides its religious
importance the park is rich for its
natural beauty from where you can see
the Api and Saipal Himalayan ranges.
